Garbage Collection

The City of Trinidad contracts with Republic Trash Service to collect garbage materials. Garbage is collected once per week. On your trash day, simply move the cans to the street by 7:00 a.m. Please move your cart back off of the street after the trash has been collected.

Waste Collection is once per week on Wednesday.

All household garbage must be bagged and placed in garbage can.

Cart Placement

  • Cart must be placed at the curb no later than 7:00 am on service day.
  • Cart must be at least 3 feet away from any other object including other carts, parked cars, meters, fire hydrants, utility poles and mailboxes.
  • Please place your cart at the curb no earlier than 6:00 pm on Tuesday evening & remove the cart from the curb no later than 10:00 pm on Wednesday after it has been serviced. When placing the cart at the curb please make sure the cart handles are facing your house so that when the cart is lifted, the lid opens towards the street.

Cart Replacement

  • Broken/Damaged carts will be replaced or repaired by the Republic Services
  • Stolen Carts will be replaced after the resident makes a report to the police as a theft
  • All carts are the property of Republic Services and must remain at the address at all times.

Assistance for the disabled will be provided to households that have no able bodied person in the home to transport the cart to the curb. Please call REPUBLIC SERVICES at (903) 874-8717

Holiday Collection Schedule

Republic services observes the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

If the holiday falls on a Monday-Wednesday, your trash will be collected on Thursday of the holiday week.

Special Collection for Bulk Items – Republic Services will provide collection of up to 2 bulk items per month. Residents should call Republic Services to schedule collection at (903) 874-8717. Examples of bulk waste items include: stoves, refrigerators (with CFCs or other refrigerants removed), water tanks, washing machines, furniture and other similar items with weight/volume greater that the trash cart can hold. Bulk waste does NOT include: construction/remodel debris, items that are too heavy to be safely loaded, items that may damage the collection vehicle or items not accepted by the disposal facility.
