Special Session


September 27, 2016

A Special Session of the governing body of the City of Trinidad was held on the 27th day of September 2016 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the City Hall in Trinidad, Texas, at which time the following subjects were discussed:

01. Call to Order: Mayor Pro Tem Kay Hernandez called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m.

02. Roll Call: .Councilpersons present at the meeting were Roy Stanfield, Kay Hernandez, Chris Quinn, Velma Womack and Beth Parker. Mayor Larry Estes was absent.

EDC Board Members Mary Helen Covey, Billy Ray Hornbuckle, Meghan Cantrell, Betty Sanders, and Matt Mizell were present. Bill Tart and Craig Francis were absent.

Trinidad ISD Board members present: Corey Jenkins, Stephanie Ramsey, Mike Airheart, Matt Mizell, and Billy Ray Hornbuckle

03. Invocation: The invocation was given by Roy Stanfield.

04. Open forum: No comments made in open forum.

05. . Work Session:

• Discuss direction and growth of the City of Trinidad: Chris Quinn began the meeting. The school is the number one employer of people who live in the city. As a city, we all need to work together to bring homeowners to the city and the school. One purpose, one goal, one mission to build apartments would be a faster way of bringing families into Trinidad. We need to do whatever it takes to achieve the goal. Our Police Chief will be calling TXDOT about the possibility to extend FM 1667 all the way. At the end of the discussion, everyone agreed to concentrate on apartments in the City.

06. Convened into executive session at 7:07 p.m. pursuant to Section 551.087, Tex. Gov't Code, deliberations regarding Economic Development negotiations and pursuant to Section 551.071 to consult with its attorney.

07. Reconvened into open session at 8:20 p.m. to take action as appropriate in the Council's discretion regarding the deliberations regarding Economic Development negotiations and consulting with its attorney.

The City Council did not consult with City attorney and no action taken.

08. Adjourn: Motion was made by Beth Parker adjourn. Velma Womack seconds the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
